When I lived in Nong Khai before I once called the ambulance number we had the the guy answered the phone half asleep and then hung up. Once at the hospital I mentioned it and they said "oh we have a private company you can contact". Not sure what they meant but I do see quite a few different looking ambulances, -and ones that don't look like anything more than a scrape you up off the road vehicle.
