ANDAMAN SEA: In a move seen to be an attempt to placate angry tourists (more likely angry tour operators) the counrty’s National Parks officials presented options to choose from three other equally attractive options in which to ruin by way of over-use and unplanned means. Now Pileh Bay, Loh Moo Dee Bay, and Koh Hong have all been listed, which is sure to lead to a few interesting follow on news stories of intrigue in the land grabbing scheme of things. Wasp attack kills 2 at forest meditation retreat
TRANG: In another incident showing the fatal dangers of stinging insects here, a child and his mother have died from stings which took place after the wasp nest was blown from a tree during construction at a meditation center. The monk leading the meditation center has promised to call a meeting of the monastery committee to discuss the best way to get rid of the wasps inhabiting the compound. More here at Bangkok Post.
Yingluck Ends Defamation Case Against Dems
BANGKOK: Former PM Yingluck Shinwatra ended her legal case of defamation today against three former Democrat Party MPs who she accused of impugning her in 2012 with sexist remarks. The strategy behind the move is likely related to the fact their political careers would have been ended if the case would have proceeded to the Supreme Court, -where, out of all the odd logic, they would then actually have grounds to counter-sue her for loss of career. Russian on Interpol RED List Nabbed in Pattaya
CHON BURI: A drug trafficking charge back in Russia got the better of the criminal who was finally apprehended in Pattaya after a warrant was issued through Interpol, Russian and Thai channels. Brit Expat & Thai Wife Caught nicking neighbours mattress & cash
PATTAYA: In what amounts to a really dumb move, a Brit Expat and his Thai wife were caught on CCTV stealing a neighbours bed, as well as about 126,000THB in cash. The victim had gone on a trip to Cambodia only to return and find his door ajar and the cash missing. A steep amount to leave in a rented room indeed. More details here on Bangkok Post.
Korat Gambling Den Raided in former BBQ joint
NAKHON RATCHASIMA: 45 men and women, as well as a paltry cash amount of 70,000 THB were hauled out of a Korat gambling den in the early hours. The suspects were playing dice and card games such as Hi-Lo but none admitted to organizing the affair. More here on Bangkok Post
