BANGKOK: A German tourist who was pickpocketed in a Bangkok shopping mall filed a report in July against the suspects, which have now been apprehended after police examined the CCTV footage and decided to stake out the premises, in which the criminals were still operating. Chinese tourists warned on Thai weather dangers
BANGKOK:After 6 drowning deaths in August alone, Embassy staff have issued an advisory to their citizens on the dangers of strong sea winds and powerful waves associated with monsoon season. The timing of the warning coincides with “Golden Week” which occurs first week of October. The warning focused on Phuket, Phang Nga, and Krabi. More here on Bangkok Post.
Big Joke targets Farang lady who complained about temple bells
BANGKOK: Immigration Chief “Big Joke” is not joking around and likely never was, -now he’s investigating a foreign lady at the root of the Wat Sai Bell ringing controversy. The Wat has now been told it ccan resume ringing it’s bells at original volume after a huge backlash against the order on social media. The immigration police are now investigating the lease contract which may violate Section 38 of the Immigration Act which stipulates the Lessor inform immigration officers whenever a foreigner resides in their property. Five Chiang Mai police moved after gambling raid
CHIANG MAI: 5 top officers at Chang Phueak police station have been transferred to inactive posts following a rad on a gambling parlor in downtown Chiang Mai, in which 93 citizens were nabbed Friday night. The size of the operation was substantial in that 50 men and 43 women were arrested inside a house on Soi Patan 9. An inquiry panel has been set up to determine if the police were negligent in their duty. More here from Bangkok Post.
Thailand Moto GP Starts Today in Buriram
BURIRAM: The PTT Thailand Moto GP 2018 starts today in Buriram, and will run through Sunday October 7th. The deal for running the GP runs 3 years with the Buriram United International Circuit and is expected to add to the already 1 million plus MotoGP fans in Thailand. 319 Foreigners Arrested Nationwide On Visa Charges
BANGKOK: In a major move, 319 foreigners were arrested on various immigration charges including overstay. The new ACTING Immigration Bureau Chief released details and noted that the “Show Money” scam so prevalent among most of the long-stay expats here may come to a swift and rude end as he targeted two immigration staff and reassigned them to new posts while under investigation for cooperating in “show money” efforts. He noted that the “one-day” 400,000THB bank account deposit transactions would be “very easy to spot” and that he would see to it that they were ended. More here at Bangkok Post.
